Beef Rendang : World’s Most Delicious Dishes

For a lot of people, a melt-in-the-mouth high-grade wagyu steak would be the most delicious dish they ever tasted, but for people in Southeast Asia, beef rendang would be the most delicious dish

Originating in Minangkabau, West Sumatra, this dish is designated as an intangible cultural heritage by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture.
Rendang has not only historic significance but also cultural. Historically, rendang was made to preserve meat. The cooking process will take between 4 and 7 hours to ensure that the meat has absorbed the spices and reduced its water content. Once cooked perfectly, Rendang can last up to 6 months. Traders and immigrants in the 16th century would take Rendang as rations, since it was suitable for the long journeys.
Culturally, Rendang is seen as the embodiment of the philosophy of musyawarah, discussion, and consultation with elders and peers. It is said that 4 main ingredients of Rendang represent Minangkabau’s society. In Minangkabau traditions, rendang is served on almost every important occasion, such as births, weddings, celebrations, and religious events.
Nowadays, Rendang is not exclusively sold in Indonesia. Several diners around the world are now serving Rendang, usually in Indonesian owned diners. Would you want to try it and confirm if it was one of the world’s most delicious dishes?
